How can I get rid of stuff??

I don't where's the best place to post this, so I figured here was a good place for it.

I'm going to be moving half way across the country for residency and after considering the various costs, it ends up being cheaper to get rid my furniture and buy new stuff in my new city rather than transporting it. Ideally, I'd like to sell it, but my furniture is pretty ... inexpensive ... and nobody would really jump at the chance to pay money for it. At this point I'd be grateful for anyone who would come take it away without any cost to me (I don't have any vehicles to facilitate transporting). Frankly, I'd just throw everything into a local dumpster if I thought I could do so without getting into trouble for it. Does anyone know of services who take away furniture in fair to good condition for resale, like the salvation army or something similar ?

Try calling Salvation Army or Goodwill. They send out trucks on certain days to pick stuff up.
