I want to strengthen my app, in case I don't get in this year. Here's what I'm doing/ plan to do:

1. Am currently taking cell bio now at night--will take genetics next sem.
2. Will re-take MCAT (I will assume I'll have to, I've taken it once--this past August)
3. Continue with volunteering
4. Get certified in EMT
5. Work in medical field (currently working retail--can't find med job yet)

Is there anything else anyone can recommend?

Where can I get certified in EMT? A hospital? I'm in Chicago.

Do you know any physicians? Perhaps, you can shadow one.
Most EMT programs that I know of are through junior or community colleges, but that's in TX.
I know that someone mentioned that becoming a phlebotomist is pretty easy. Perhaps you can check into that.
Good luck!
