How can MTBE not H-Bond?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ok. they both can H-bond. However, MTBE is an H-bond acceptor as it does not have a polarized H to donate to water. ETOH on the hand can accept and donate H-bond electron density. It forms three H-bonds with water, while MTBE can only form 2 bonds. Hope this helps.
