I was thinking.. different schools have different gpa scales for grades.. For example, the school i attended never had the +/- system until this year ( i graduated a year ago so it sure didn't help me), meaning if you made a 81 or 89 in a class, that's still just a B. means is a 3 on a 4 pt scale.. But other schools have it where a 88 is consider an A- or something where it is a 3.5 out of 4... . and 81 would be like a B- or something and it is a 3 out of 4.

Do dental schools take that into consideration when looking at applicant's gpa (i have made tons of 88, 89s during my undergrad) so.. that explains y my gpa is lower. I mean thats kinda unfair. . . 😎

-which system did your school use?
And shouldn't that mean DAT scores should be weighted more when looking at applicants. its more fair to look at compared to gpa b/c everyone in the nation are on the same scoring scale? right?

plz give me some feedback😱

When you enter your grades into AADSAS, it converts it to a common scale so that the playing field becomes level (more or less).

The CC I took my prereqs at had a straight scale. The universities I attended used +/-.

I am sure DAT plays a role in how admissions looks at your application. It works in your favor if your DAT scores are a higher percentile than your GPA.

Theoretically, everyone's GPA should be ranked the same when admissions reviews applications. In reality (not meaning to restart the GPA vs. University attended argument), some d-schools take into account the college attended. In my interviews, the interviewers commented that, "a 3.3 GPA from some university I attended is really more like a 3.7." It's not fair, but it is reality. Having had the (mis)fortune of attending multiple universities, I have first hand experience of how class difficulty varies between schools. As much as school rankings may suck, there is some legitimacy to those rankings. There is no reason that we should pretend that all universities are created equal.
