How close to your deadline did your LOR submit?

I gave my letter writers ~2 months with a deadline of June 26th (kind of random idky I chose this date) using interfolio

so far only one has submitted after about a month, but the other 4 have not

is it common for writers to wait until the last week to submit? when should I send a reminder? does inter folio send a reminder?

I would start sending up follow up emails, and if they don't respond to that, follow up by going to their office. Stay respectful, but emphasize urgency. Just ask about their progress and that you're checking up on it just in case.

Yes, but after June 26th. OP told the letter writers when to send them in. I wouldn't heckle an academic unnecessarily. They have the deadline, and now it's only appropriate to send a push when the deadline has passed (since it's a soft deadline for the OP). If it were the hard deadline, then perhaps a single reminder e-mail a week before would be appropriate.

Interfolio sends a couple reminders. One of my writers submitted about 2 weeks after the "deadline" I gave her. Just keep hounding them, they are busy people.

One of my writers didn’t submit until aug 10th or so for a may 15 deadline. Held up my committee letter too so that schools didn’t get that til September

I gave my 6 letter-writers until 6/15 (a random date I chose), and all but 1 of mine have already submitted theirs. I'll probably give my last guy a week before I start harassing him, but I think he'll be my weakest writer anyway, so it's not a big deal. He's an old boss, from my previous career. I probably ought to send him a proposed draft so he doesn't say something crazy like "she was a fantastic lawyer, so obviously she'll be a good doctor, too, 'cuz she's sooper smart n stuf."
