How common is block scheduling in MD school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We have block scheduling (4 blocks each year- 1st year is Anatomy, Cells and Tissues, Physiology, and Host Defense)... lectures each day here vary from 2-4 hours a day. We have 50 minutes of lecture followed by a 10 minute break and then repeat. I personally don't go to lectures (we have them on audio online) but my friends who do seem to be ok with sitting there for 3 hours.

It doesn't really matter where you go you will have to retain information from numerous hours of lectures a day and then go home and review that material to make sure you get it down.
