how competetive are med+neuro programs

hey guys!i know someone posted a msg about the combined med+neuro programs.my question is how cmpetitive are these programs?i know that there are only 8 programs that offer this,so would that by default amount to "more" competitive?(compared to the regular one yr im and 3 yrs neuro).i have applied to these programs and i was wondering where i would stand. i know that would depend on a lot of factors but just so i have a fair idea!thanks in advance!!

Competition is all about supply and demand, and although you are right that supply is low, which would suggest that it is indeed competitive--the demand is not there. From peeps I've talked to, it is not competitive since not many people apply. So you have a very good chance for matching even if you are an avg applicant (not that I'm saying that you are, or that there is anything wrong with it!).

I want to apply to the combined IM/Neuro programs but I wonder why they are undersirable considering the low applications. Any idea?

perhaps because people choose neuro, and not medicine for a reason 🙂 I really don't see the point of a combined neuro/med program unless one wants to have a career in neurocritical care, wants to have a more in depth medicine knowledge..then again, there is always a neurocritical care fellowship where you get all the neuro ICU training.
