If a person failed step 1 one time, does that pretty much disqualify them for a anesthesia residency? Im sure it does, but I thought I would ask anyway

thanks in advance

Read FAQ above.

Have a damn good excuse which must be backed up with a better than average score the second time around. Apply BROADLY. If the rest of your app looks good (grades, clinicals, letters, etc) then the detrimental aspects of a failed step I can be mitigated. Take Step II early and crush it as well.

If you are an AMG it makes things easier. Follow the above easier said than done advice and you should be ok.

Barely passed the second time. Oh well Guess I will look at internal medicine

thanks

You still have Step II to spank. It is the match after all so it won't hurt to apply broadly to gas programs as well as IM programs right?
