Does anyone know the applicant to seats available ratio for mstp?😕

It's not published. In general the ratio of applicants/seats is about half of that of the ratio of applicants/seats for MD programs. However, in general the stats of MD/PhD applicants are higher.

Don't get intimidated by low numbers of seats at programs. Sure a MD/PhD program with 10 seats may get 300 applicants. But then again, a MD program with 100 seats may get 3000 applicants. If you have good stats and research experience, go for it. I believe that MD/PhD admissions is much less of a crap shoot than is MD admissions.

No problem. The only school I've found that publishes anything about admissions stats is Baylor here at:
http://public.bcm.tmc.edu:80/mstp/admissions_statistics.html

I think these stats are pretty typical for a MSTP.

Drawing conclusions from application statistics can be misleading, mainly because it is tempting to assume that applicants to different schools are of equal calibre.

I would never be put off by people telling you that a certain course or field is super competitive: as a general rule, anything worth doing is inherently competitive.
