Hello,

How competitive is KU (University of Kansas) for out-of-staters (Non-Kansas)? I have a pretty high MCAT score and GPA, and am looking at their MD-PhD program. Does anyone know if they have a really strong quota for Kansas in-staters (in general)?

Thanks

While I don't really know about MD PhD, I assume it is similar to straight MD - and they have a very, very strong bias towards in state students. You can find the exact numbers on their website or in the MSAR.

They didn't want me, haha.

Yeah, it's unfortunate - I am a MO resident and would love med school in KC, but UMKC is six year, and KU doesn't want me since I wasn't raised on corn in some Kansas town equally far from Kansas City. Oh well.

KU is extremely competitive for OOS MD applicants. I'd imagine it's even tougher for MD/PhD applicants, but I don't know for sure. I know a couple people who interview there and I think are/were on the admissions committee. I'll see what they think.
