I was just thinking about this earlier. How cruel would it be if a person applied one year, and didn't recieve one interview invite. The next year, this person gets a really early interview at her top choice school, only to get rejected after months of hoping and praying and letter writing. Not that the rejection part has happened yet, but still, can the universe really be that cruel?

I hope not. 🙁

Good luck, OP! :luck:

I really don't have a comment for your post. I just wanted to say that I loooooooooove your signature quote! I'm stealing it and adding it to my quotes list!!! 🙂

Yes...the universe can be that cruel - and even worse. My first, second and third choice schools don't even want to see my face right now. 😡

But I've been accepted elsewhere and so I'm not going to cry myself to death about it. And I hope you get an acceptance too (even if it's not from your top school).

this has nothing to do with the universe in the general sense. don't read into things. (i know you know that, but just sayin anyway)

i'm also a pessimist in this cycle. probably more so b/c of SDN!

Wait, so you're asking if someone could get a rejection for the 06-07 ap cycle, while they were applying and had an interview for the 07-08 ap cycle? I highly doubt this could happen, as you have to say if you've applied before. And they say the second time around is harder, so I'd doubt oen would get rejected one year and early interview the next at the same school.

I was a reapp. First year: Not a single damn interview. Second year: interview to my top OOS choice... and kept on hold for 6 months only to be waitlisted. THEN there was the "we'll definitely get to you, don't worry" and guess what? I didn't get off the waitlist. I got into my second OOS choice tho. My own state school didn't even talk to me either year. They hated me.

Ah, it's all good. I'm in a school I love (or hate seeing as it's one week before block exam week).

To answer your question: yes, the application cycle can be that cruel.
