i just started studing...

i am planning on taking DAT on april.

i bought kaplan blue book... did u guys study all bio, then gchem then orgo??or did u guys mixed up?

Everyone has their convenient way to study. So pick what ever is best for you. The trouble is how do you study so that three months from now you still remember what you learned three months ago. I think this why this site is so great because after you have learned bio for example the questions that people post on this site can help to keep things fresh by answering.

I would personally would study gen chem and also do bio at diff hours of the day. Because doing of one thing for a long time can make you feel bored. Al so before hitting topscore or other study guides such as destroyer make sure you know the facts and those guides can help as supplements afterwards. So again see if you prefer mix up or not, it all depends on the person. Do whatever you can to keep things fresh in your head so that you can recall them three or four months from now. Good luck and I hope this helped.

You could just do what I did...buy Kaplan book, thoroughly read for 2 weeks, do practice Kaplan cd, take DAT. I avoided the "what did I learn 3 months ago" scenario and scored in the 96 percentile. Or, you could attempt to "study" for the DAT for the next 3 months while simultaneously trying to maintain a decent GPA...

i would not do that

I found I had no time to study my spring semester so I took it over the summer. The best time closest to April to take the DAT is probably end of June. You have a nice month to finish your studying with after finals are over.

Going through the blue book is fine but I'd suggest resorting to AP Cliff Bio as well. You should also use either Topscore or DAT Achiever (or both) for practice test. DAT Destroyer may be a good investment as well.

i took the spring semester off (+one research credit), to study for the DAT and for other reasons. what i found is that having much more free time actually made me study less (and play Halo more 😉 ). i took the test in early march and did ok. 19 AA, 22 RC, 21 PAT, 18 TS. with a 3.67 gpa. so far i've been accepted to Pitt and UKentucky. (now if i could just get into UNLV i'd be Stoked).
if i could do it over, i'd NOT take the semester off, but drop to 1/2 time, plus i'd use more study-aids. i used the kaplan book~just read through it once and did a couple practice tests, plus review of the important stuff in the margins, also Topscore and Destroyer. topscore helped me w/the test environment & PAT, and destroyer really helped with Bio.

also, TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS. you'll start to loathe the DAT and that is not a healthy learning atmosphere. get into a mode of pacing yourself as well. the biggest mistake i made on the DAT is that i spent too much time on the first few QR questions on the DAT and i ended up having to rush and guessing on the last 15-20 questions. i got a measley 16 QR when i could have easily gotten 19-20 & slightly boosted my AA.
