Some of you may know that I took the DAT yesterday and did pretty well! I was under the impression that they would give me an actual dry-erase board with an eraser to use but NOOOOOOO.

They gave me two sheets of cheap-ass laminated paper and two black markers and no eraser. Cheap bastards. I used every drop of saliva I could muster to clean those boards. By the end of the test it looked like my hands were covered in soot and the "dry erase boards" were black smeary messes. Needless to say I got a little bit of cotton mouth.

Is this standard?

They gave me two pieces of blue laminated paper. One side had a grid, the other was blank. Then they gave me two Wet-Erase markers, meaning I couldn't erase anything.

My testing center is apparently weird, because they let me swap out the "boards" when I needed more space. All I had to do was raise my hand and they'd come switch it out. I think I liked it better than using a white board, because I couldn't accidentally smudge anything. It did require some planning though, for example if I had 5 extra minutes left at the end of a section, I'd ask them for a swap... I must've gone through six or seven front and back.

Yeah it sounds like the same thing they gave me, wet-erase markers and two pieces of blue paper with the grid and blank sides. It just turned into a saliva-induced mess.

Yeah, the only time I actually erased anything was when I was running out of time on QR lol

Advice: bring tissues in with you and use your spit to erase.

I had two laminated sheets. The workers could barely figure out how to check me in and were not watching closely for hands up to replace the paper.

Needless to say, I didn't want to wait for them with a hand up on the time constrained DAT. I used the proemtric centers tissue paper and used spit which was fast, easy, and worked.

Good news was that I could put any notes I wanted during the tutorials. I did cube counting grids before the start and wrote out math equations on 15 min break.

I am sure they were super excited when you handed them back the spit-smeared sheets back to them after the test.

I didn't write too much, so I didn't have to use spit, but my hands are pretty sweaty, so I used my "bodily" fluid. =)

I honestly don't know which is worse... spit, or "bodily fluid" 😛

when you raise your hand to replace the sheets, can you ask to replace just 1 piece? I'm wondering because if I took the time write down stuff I memorized I don't want them to take that sheet away

I was given two boards, and I used one board (front and back) for Sciences/PAT, then I traded that one in for a clean one during my 15 minute break. During the 2nd part, I used one board (front and back) for QR, and that's it. Didn't have to erase at all.

Yeah, I was also given two boards, and when I asked what I needed to do if I needed a new board/if I should erase stuff, they just told me to raise my hand and they'd give me a new one. I didn't end up needing a new board, but if you do, just raise your hand and they'll switch it out for you.
