Hey guys,
I have a question about research.
How different do posters have to be to "matter" or be seen as adding to one's application? For example, I have one very very cool project that I am working on (with complete ownership of). I presented it at a small local conference already about a month ago, and will be presenting it at a national conference this summer. The titles of these posters are a tiny bit different but say essentially exactly the same thing (ie On the potential treatment of 'x' using 'y')
I am still making quite significant process on improving the protocol I am creating for the treatment of a disease (so while my poster titles sound nearly identical, their content is changing a bit each time to reflect these improvements I'm making).
I'm 99% confident my PI would be supportive of me presenting the project at another national conference or an international conference near the end of the year.
So my question is this: is it worth doing? The research should again transform quite a bit based on working on the project full time this summer, but the poster title would again be nearly identical. My concern is that if I do so, adcoms will see me as "milking" it (ie it won't be seen as well as two posters at local conferences with totally different topics). Is this the case?
P.S. I already have a different project I presented at a national conference and local conference, but was going to list that one only once (with "presented at 'x' local conference as well" in the description) because it had the EXACT same title and didn't change at all.
