I have a question for any attendings, residents, program coordinators, or anyone else who knows how derm programs view your application. I have reviewed other posts of this subject and it seems there is no consensus as to whether programs look at it electronically or on printed paper, perhaps it depends on the program. I ask because two days ago I wrote a new and improved personal statement and sent it to all the programs to which I applied. I emailed ERAS and they stated that the new PS would replace the old one but previous posts here seem to say differently especially if the program has already printed the PS. I am hoping programs haven't already printed my application and, thus, would either not get my improved personal statement or would get copies of the old and the new (which might look wierd). Either way, it is really not a big deal since the two PS's don't contradict eachother. I was just wondering for wondering sake because my new PS sounds a lot better than the original. Thanks.

I asked this same question to my PD as I recently learned I had received senior AOA (mid october). I asked him if clicking the AOA box on the ERAS profile would be sufficient or if I should send an email to programs. He though updating the profile was sufficient as most programs would be unlikely to have reviewed/printed anything yet.

Almost all interviews I was on, the interviewer had my application printed out. Some institutions even had "AOA" and board score in handwritten in large lettering, with highlighter circles in different colors on top. Clearly some programs rank based on numbers.

Seriously?!! I guess when you get 400 applications to select 2 people you do what you have to do...
