Hi,

Has anyone started a poll to gauge the DO programs on. I am thiking of a 1-10 score value for things like academics, library, rotations, student life etc...

If not, pitch in and let me know how one could be constructed...

Don't really know how you would go about doing that since I can only comment on one school and that is my basis for reference.
For PCOM I would say the academics are hard, classes/labs from 8-4/5 almost every day of the week. Library has always had whatever I needed except for a Bates tape on H&P/Vital signs. Tons of computer labs with extensive online library. Cannot comment on rotations but have a standardized patient session on Friday and Clinic shadowing sometime before XMAS. Student life depends (on what you want). There is always some activity, club meeting, lecture, Xtracurricular activity to attend. Always a beer/wing special somewhere. Gym facilities are excellent. Parking is excellent ($300 for the parking garage/ $120 for the lot a block over.) Professors are excellent except for a rare few that are boring, but all are extremely willing to help out. Administration/Student Services could use some help. You would think after a hundred years or so they would work out the kinks, but then there have been some admin changes/shuffling and I can not imagine how difficult it must be to manage the amount of clueless med students. So I give the admin a pass b/c they are always willing to listen to your problems and lend a helping hand. The dining area is great, pricey but good, I do not expect PCOM to subsidize my lunch. Normally ample seating, complete with microwazes and fridges for bagged lunches. All in all I give PCOM an 8.0, they lose 1 point for price, and 1 point for something that may piss me off in the future. If in 2008 they have not done anything to piss me off I will harvest this post and change their rating.

Thanks for the detailed reply.... Anyone else attending or that has interviewed have any opinion on schools. Let's roll with the 1-10 system...

Nobody's going to be able to legitimately do this "1-10" scale for you because we haven't attended all of the schools & there is no formal ranking.

Just investigate schools and decide which ones are the best fit for you.
