How do I address not matching

I am reapplying in this year's match after not matching this past cycle. How/when do I need to address this? Is this an issue that will only come up during the interview process or should I indicate it somewhere else?

I briefly addressed it in my PS (that I am applying again after not matching). One of my letter writers is addressing the likely reason why I did not match in her letter. Not sure if this is the right way to go about it, but it is what I am doing.

My letter writer has spent 2 paras on explaining my bad scores. I am not sure if that will go against me? Also would you know how far does " I would recommend MEDOCUS with highest level of enthusiasm" go for me? Thanks

Be productive with that time you have while you're preparing to go through another cycle. Programs want to see that you did something significant and meaningful during that time. Don't waste it. You may discover some great things to include in your revised PS.

DrJosephKim - thanks! I have already set up a couple volunteer activities, however I am unable to get anything research-related. Is this okay?

I just wasn't sure if I needed to specifically address the fact that I did not match on my application itself or if it was more of an issue that would be discussed during my interviews?

I am assuming the answer is no, but is there anyway programs that you didnt apply to last year come to know that you are reapplying after not matching the previous time around? I applied only to a handful of programs last year , and will be casting a broader net this time, so I am not sure whether to address it at all in my PS or just bring it up at interview at the program where you might be re-interviewing.

I don't think they'll come to know -- only they'll suspect you didn't match because of timing.
