When I log on to my account, I don't know how to tell whether or not my amcas has been verified. Under application status, it says "active". Also, I've gotten a couple of secondaries....does that mean amcas has already been verified?

hi you!! I haven't heard from you in a while. 🙂

You are not verified yet, because if you were, it would have said "PROCESSED" on your app. You are getting secondaries because AMCAS has transmitted your app. to the schools. So, although you are probably already verified "behind the scenes" on the AMCAS side, they are not showing that info to you yet. Why? I don't know. But this is a good sign, because you can expect to have it say "PROCESSED" anytime soon. 🙂

Once you're processed, THEN, you're verified. Processed = verified.

Also, once you're verified, make sure you always go to the "PRINT APP" button to see the REAL dates the schools got your app. The transmitted dates on your Welcome Page are not as accurate as the ones on your current application (i.e. once you click on PRINT APP, that's your current and most up-to-date info).

Tweetie, I sent you a PM.

Mine says processed and has dates of transmission on the main page when I log in. however, when I print my app, no dates there?? what gives?????

Do transmission dates not show up on the welcome page until you're processed? I'm still "active" and it only shows that my transcripts have been received on my welcome page, yet I've received secondaries from non-screening schools. Of course there aren't dates on the printed app either. Just wondering...

ok, so here's how it works (or how I think it works based on my experiences and a few others on SDN)

1. You submit your app.
2. They do stuff behind the scenes on their side to verify it
3. They have this "online database" from which schools can dowload your app directly. I.E. if "Sarah" has applied to X, Y and Z schools, then each of those schools are always checking to see which students have applied on this secret AMCAS database....they check for people like sarah that have applied to their school, download the application, and get the ball rolling from the School's side.
4. Then you get secondaries, YET, you have not been verified.
5. Once AMCAS officially verifies you, they send in the verified app to the school and that's the one schools use to screen you or not.

Note: The Welcome Page will say that X Y or Z schools have been transmitted, but that is **NOT** always the most accurate date. There is a difference between when schools dowload your application from the database, and when they dowload your app once it's been verified. Thus, if you click on the Print button and see not dates, this means your VERIFIED application has not yet been seen by the schools. Get it?

I don't know if I agree. When I print I see no dates at all, however on the welcome page my app has transmitted after it was processed, so I think at least those schools have the full application. There is probably some other reason its not showing up on "print app" page. What do you think????

I don't know what exactly happens, but my best guess is that until it says on the print app, they haven't seen your VERIFIED application yet.

Schools know way ahead of advance who is applying to their school. That's when they send you secondaries. I believe ( and I could be wrong) the date on the Welcome page is the date they downloaded your name and data to see that you're applying. They won't even get the entire application until you're verified. This is what I mean when I say that the print app is most current. And here's another thing to back my word: once I finally got verified, I noticed that a lot of schools had alrady had my app. for a while, but never sent me secondaries. Furthermore, every morning when I checked my print application, I would see that 2-3 schools were added. THE SAME DAY, I would check my email, and those 2-3 schools had sent me secondaries.

This is what makes me think that the print application is more current than the Welcome page. I believe AAMC even sent some of us an email about this???? Anyway, fact is that the Print application IS the most current.....WHY this contradiction exists, I can only guess. 😕

You may be right, I have no idea.
But here's an update, a couple of the dates on the welcome page were old and after verification it looks like the app was re-transmitted and the date changed. All the dates are within the last week of verification. So my guess is that the app was verified about a week ago and takes that long for us to find out about it (active to verification).
I am still of the opinion that the welcome page is accurate, but who knows.
