Hi everyone. Sorry in advance if this has been addressed, but I've surfed around the forums for a bit and haven't seen it addressed directly.

I am a first year student currently weighing radiology. I am curious what the workload of residency is like given the new limits on hours that were implemented by the LCME. In my (admittedly uninformed) understanding, radiology has generally had long hours and call during all 4 years of the training. Is the work hour limitation expected to increase these demands, or lengthen the time of training at all?

Also, has there been any discussion in the field about combining the transitional year into the 4 year radiology specific years to form a combined program to address this?

Thanks.

The new work hours have 0 effect on radiology training.

Those restrictions are mainly geared towards interns. Since radiology doesn't have interns, they don't affect them.

The only rule that possibly applies is night float can only last 6 consecutive days without a day off, so any program that had you cover 7 straight nights no longer can.
