So I'm not exactly sure how to search for this particular topic, "re-app", "re-application", etc.? Sorry if this has been answered extensively before.

I'm going to be submitting my amcas app soon, and I was trying to figure out which schools to keep on my list. My following question is based on what I've heard about adcoms looking unfavorably on re-apps.

Does the same situation hold true for SMPs? I'm going to be attending Georgetown's SMP for the upcoming year, and I was wondering if I should just apply to everything on my list, or should I wait for next year, and apply only to those lower on my list for this year? I'm afraid that adcoms will knock some points off for counting me a re-applicant. I don't want to hinder my chances at some better schools by applying this year with the 0.01% chance that I get in. On the other hand...there *is* a chance, so I still *do* want to apply...

advice fellow SMP/SDNers?

No they look unfavorably on re apps that don't show improvement. Your doing a top level SMP, if you do well in it that shows improvement. Apply broadly and include the schools you didn't get into last time.

Good luck and hurry up with that app all ready. It takes forever to get verified in these here parts....

If you had some interviews the first time around, you are in a reasonable position to re-apply now.

If you had no interviews, you will be glad you waited until you are closer to getting better credentials, after a year of SMP.

I decided to wait until after a year of SMP, because I really know what the competition is like after last cycle...
