Are there any negative aspects of taking a gap year (instead of applying the summer year of junior, I applied the summer of senior year) to rest because i'm burning out. also this would give me more time be a more competitive applicant when i apply; for instance, i would have a higher gpa (3.7~ as oppose to a 3.6~).

No negative aspects, most schools don't bat an eye at taking a gap year. I took a gap year and worked at a dental office. I landed many interviews and acceptances regardless. I know people who have just traveled during their gap year and that's still fine

Depends. What you were doing during that gap year !

Just prepare yourself to answer the question about gap year during the interview because one of the dental school asked to me during the interview about this question. As long as you don't say stupid stuff, it will be fine because I accepted to dental school that asked question about gap year.

Do you remember what you said about your gap year to the interviewer?
