How do secondaries work?

How exactly do secondaries work? I understand they are sent directly to the school, but that's about all I know about them. When do they need to be sent, and how do you know which schools require them, just from their websites, or will it inform you on aadsas somewhere? thanks!

unlike med school, dental secondaries just involve you sending them a check to read your application haha. Most schools don't really have secondary essays or anything like that. As for which schools you need to send the money, it's listed in AADSAS which ones you should send fee to at the same time that you submit the application and which schools will email you later on down the road and ask you to then submit a check.
