Admittedly stealing this question from another thread, I'm curious as to how other people answer this question (assuming you get it as frequently as I do):

What's the worst thing you've seen?

Do they really want to hear about traumatic mutilations, facial GSWs, brain matter on the sheet, femur fractures in 2 month olds, 75 year old men found down lying in their urine for 2 days, homeless feet etc? What do you guys tell them?

I usually recount oneo of many stories of some poor idiot who got what he deserved.

I tell them about a horrifying experience I had at Kings county. More about the callousness of the ancillary staff when a young woman was miscarrying her 16 week pregnancy...

Anyway, it was horrifying.

Usually stopped that question.

I always took that question to mean, whats the most emotionally disturbing thing you have seen and not 'lets see who can gross someone out the most.'

I usually make it something funny, like doing the pelvic on a 400 pounder with a nurse holding each leg apart so I can "go in", and praying that I didn't get on either of their bad sides, and they "let go" of the legs and cause me to suffocate to death....
This usually stops that conversation!
