I am trying to decide if I should interview for Creighton's long distance program. I was recently accepted to SDSU (South Dakota State University) and thought highly of their PharmD program. And I live in the same town as SDSU. I am a non-traditional student with kiddos and a husband. I really like my family so moving isn't an option for me. 😉

I don't know why I am still considering Creighton. Probably because I put so much effort into my application. My PharmCAS app took a long time to complete (I have a BS and PhD degrees, entering classes took awhile). IMO, both schools are ranked similarly, Ceighton (#46) vs. SDSU (#61). Creighton is more expensive, about $15-20k/year more. SDSU has a better NAPLEX pass rate (last year 96%) vs. Creighton (86%).

How do you make a decision between two schools that are similar? Cost? Location? Flip a coin? I'm sure many of you are facing a similar decision.

It kind of sounds like you already know which one you're leaning towards 😉
If they're both pretty equal in your eyes, I'd go with SDSU since it's cheaper, you're already in the neighborhood, and you're accepted! The Creighton distance program also requires you to attend intensive labs during the summer for a few weeks, so that may sway you as well.. Good luck with whichever you choose! 🙂

Seems like you know the right decision, you just need to be pushed in that direction. So.... choose SDSU.

Thanks to both of you!!! And for pushing me in the direction I want. I just re-read my post and you're right, it sure is obvious. lol. Just want to make sure I make the best decision. 😀

Definitely go with SDSU cause they have a higher passing rate for NAPLEX, cheaper, and you got in. Good luck 🙂👍

Go to SDSU so that I can take your spot at Creighton.

Just kidding, of course.

Another factor to consider would be the amount of time needed to commute to SDSU, which depends on how far you live from the campus. If you live far and/or it's more convenient for you to take classes from home (minus the summer labs + proctored exams), then I would give Creighton some consideration. Other than that, it seems like you have already made up your mind for the most part. Congratulations on your acceptance!

If anyone is wondering, I have decided not to interview at Creighton. I'm sure it's a great school but SDSU just works better for me. I'm 10 min from campus, it's reasonably priced and a good school. I don't know how some of you folks make a decision when it's between multiple schools.

I would LOVE to give you my spot! And it is officially open! 😉 Can't wait to hear what pharmacy school you will be attending.
