Hi Everyone.
New graduated c/o 2021 that is just realizing that he should've applied to AEGD/GPR programs last cycle and is now regretting it. My situation is similar to a previous poster.
Due to the COVID adjusted requirements my school has had, I have placed very few crowns, delivered an single RPD/CD, haven't delivered a bridge, and not feeling 100% comfortable/competent doing basic restorative work. I feel like I am significantly lacking in terms of clinical experience and just realized could really benefit from a residency in general dentistry.
With that said, I'm pretty lost on where to apply going forward. I know I am not a competitive applicant. I have not been able to form close bonds with faculty in part due to shortened clinic and in part due to my own fault.
GPA: 3.2 Rank:50-80%
Extracurriculars: None
Letters of Rec: Not sure who to ask...
Where I stand, I know I am not a strong applicant as is, and so I am willing to apply to and relocate for less competitive AEGD/GPR programs if neccessary. The issue is I do not know how to gauge how competitive a program is. With predent there was information available on average GPA, ECs ect, so you could at least know that a program was out of your reach before applying.
Is there any way to determine the competitiveness of a program?
I want to be able to apply for programs that I actually have a chance of being accepted to and not just a bunch that I never had a chance for.
Thank you everyone!
