How do I do it?
1) I exaggerate it in my mind= (Wow! this ****'s incredible or I never knew that)= VERY HELPFUL
2) Makes notes before the lecture= You will have stuff from the textbook that you didn't get so when it's lecture time you'll actually want to pay attention to fix your notes/understanding
3) Practice Studying in crowded noisy environments (use some sort of noise cancellation head phones if you want), WHEN I SAY PRACTICE I MEAN PRACTICE! DO IT EVERYDAY IF YOU CAN (AT LUNCH OR SOMETHING OR IN THE HALLWAY)= WILL GO A LONG WAY INTO HELPING YOU CONCENTRATE
4) When there's a hot girl around= I'm lost too, but I try to say this "If I don't get good grades/concentrate then I"ll never get that hottie, so pay attention!"
5) Study everyday I guess= Repetition is the father of learning
6) Picture to yourself as vividly as possible the consequences of your failure to learn—flunking out, opinions of family and friends, lowered income throughout life because of incompetence. Then think of what may happen if you do particularly well—respect from family and friends, possible scholarships, offers of jobs leading to important and responsible positions.
7) Spend a couple of minutes everyday (morning/night), Sit still and visualize yourself concentrating in class and getting an A
8) Like 7 but when visualizing try to make the task of concentrating/test taking/hw or any other activity/work/study you're doing 100 million times harder than it really is.
ex= Taking math test, the test is on friday, spend the mornings/nights of mon/tues/wed/thurs/friday morning sitting and visualizing yourself taking the a 15 pg test in 20 min. Visualize yourself in the process of taking the test and finishing it in 20 minutes and then getting your grade back which would say an A. To further enhance the difficulty imagine there being music blasted, a dog chewing on your leg, your pencil being broken in half, you standing up b/c all the seats all taken (you probably get it now= imagine the worst scenarios). At the end of the test/whatever you imagine see yourself succeeding and getting what you wanted even in the face of the worst scenarios
I do #8 for like 1 min before I study and after studying for 30 minutes I spend 30 secs drinking water and then spend 1:30 min doing the #8 visualization. I imagine myself in the worst scenarios absorbing and understanding the material.
I personally do 1,2,6,7,8 the most.
