Hi guys,
How did you land your first pharmacy tech job with no prior experience? I am in college and am trying to work as a pharmacy tech. I have my certification and so far have volunteered at a hospital pharmacy for 1 year. I would like to get more formal experience as a pharmacy technician. Unfortunately I don't think I passed CVS's personality test/VJT which means my application won't be sent through. I will try to apply again in 6 months. I am looking at other places, however I feel like other big chains will require a personality test as well. A lot of hospital pharmacies require to have previous work experience as a tech. Could someone give me some advice on what I should do as well as tell me your story on how you got your first pharmacy tech job? Thanks in advance.

You need to go door-to-door and simply ask the pharmacy manager if they're looking to hire a tech. Do this only after you have applied online to whichever company you are interested in.

If there is an independent near you try there. That's where I got my start. The owners were actually really great mentors and I learned so much from them.

Personality tests aren't that hard to pass these days, you can look up on-line what the "right" answers are supposed to be.

Yeah, I think I didn't pass the VJT at CVS as well. Every time I send my application online, it says "not selected for this position" in about 10 minutes.
But as everyone said, you have to go into the store and ask the pharmacist or store manager.
