How do you search for topics in SDN?

I know there is a small white box in the upper right portion of the page, but is this what everyone keeps talking about when they say "Go search previous posts to get your question answered" Because, to be honest... I end up with a page full of results totally different then what I am looking for. I am wondering if there is something else you all use. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Tinman for your quick response, however I have another question. Is there any way to narrow the search down to only Dental Forums instead of all the Forums? - last question, i promise

When you click the search button, a little search window will expand with the field for you to enter in words. Underneath that text field is the word "Advanced". Click on that and it will take you to a screen where you can narrow down your searches even more.

Why can't the OP just go to the "Search this Forum" to the right of "Threads in Forum: PreDental"? I've never used the general Search or Advanced Search function. It limits it automatically.
