I did not have financial support from family, and I did not take out any loans until my last year of undergraduate study. But, I am not an international student.

Are you actually going to the University of Zimbabwe? They have a vet school. There is also one in Zambia, and South Africa has two that I know of. Have you looked online for scholarships or spoken to someone at your college? You may want to check with your school to see if you can apply for government funds or funding from the UK, Canada, or the United States to study in Zimbabwe.

Are you asking about moving to United States to continue your education?
The cost of traveling to Africa from here (USA) is prohibitive for me. It may well be an impossible task for you. Unfortunately, there are not many grants, loans, or scholarships offered to international students in the United States for their entry year in vet school. If you can find a way to finance your first year and do well academically, the scholarships will come. However, you will need to qualify for a student visa and do other things to be able to stay legally. There is also the application and acceptance process which can take several months and leave you with very little or no time to apply for the above mentioned student visa.

I do not know about legal requirements for study in the UK or Canada. You may want to ask in the pre-veterinary forum.

You may need to do a web search for scholarships, grants, loans, and funding for students in or from Zimbabwe. They are available. They may not be a full scholarship or funding, but it is a start.

*sigh* ... You've asked this question and gotten some of this information before. Please do your own research.

Thanks you for your advice..................I am not interested in studying at the University of Zimbabwe.I would love to study preferable in Edinburgh(scotland),or Endestespoot in South Africa.........or any other university. But because of the the length of the degree........I cant even loan the money.

The other problem is that Zimbabwe has fallen on the wrong side with the international world......and securing a scholarship,is pretty difficult.........I had got a place in Australia, but because of the bad economic situation in Zimbabwe,I was required to pay the fully four year tuition upfront before registering, and the opportunity just passed me by,because I couldn't afford it.

I will continue to fight ,and I know eventually will get a scholarship, though time is ticking........

I'm not sure I understand... you're saying that you can't take out loans because of the length of the degree? Why not? I'm not sure how things work in other countries, but I'm financing my entire education with loans. In addition, I still have loans from undergrad, albeit negligible compared to what I'll have taken out when I'm finished with vet school. All I'm saying is, it is possible (in the US, at least) to plan out student loans to cover everything- tuition, rent, food, books, and other living expenses. I'm not sure how it works for international students, but I think it would be worth looking into. Good luck!
