I will be a sophomore at UF Fall 2017. Here's what I'm planning to take.

MCB 3020 (3000 level microbio course)- 3 credits
CHM 2212 (Enhanced Orgo 1)-3 credits
PCB 4763C (4000 level Physiology course) - 5 credits
SPN2240 (Spanish Conversation)- 3 credits.
ENC 3459 (Writing for health professions)- 3 credits
Research for credit (1-2 credits)
Maybe physician shadowing (3 credits)

In all, this is between 18-22 credits. Pre-meds are advised to take 15-17, and 18 is the max at my school unless you get aproval.

In addition, for extra curriculars, I have

Volunteer in the anesthesia workroom (2-3hrs/week)
Volunteer around the community at homeless shelters/animal sanctuaries (4-6 hrs/week) (I'm also treasurer of a club that runs these volunteer activities
Volunteer at my local health department (3 hours/ week)
Volunteer at rural health clinic taking patients vitals (4 hours/week)
2 research labs (12-14 hours/week)
Part of a commitee that plans events for students at the honors college (1 hour/week).

Also, I'm thinking of not taking Spanish, but then, all my classes will be science/medically related. I've only taken 2 classes so far that are not science/medically related. Does this raise any red flags if I don't take any humanities? I'm taking this course load cause I really want to get into my college's Junior Medical Honors Program, which guarantees acceptance into medical school. I currently have a 3.95 science gpa and a 3.9-3.94 cumulative (my science is higher than my non science).

I think it sounds like an unnecessary risk.

Everyone has different limits and you know yours way better than anyone else here. What you're proposing is definitely on the difficult end of the spectrum from most people's perspective, but that doesn't mean it would necessarily be difficult for you.

Case in point, I know someone who took 30+ credit hours per semester and graduated with a 3.9+. Sure, it sounds crazy to everyone else, but he knew his limits and knew he could handle it. What I'm trying to say is that you're the only one with the right answer to this, so use your better judgment and ask yourself (not us) whether or not you have what it takes.

Microbiology and Orgo 1 were both pitfalls for a lot of premeds at my school. I saw a lot of straight-A students get their first C's in those two courses. (I worked at the student study center, so I met with quite a few pre meds. This isn't just a trend from some of my friends.) I would choose two of those three sciences to focus on. I personally think micro is easier if you take Orgo 1 first.
