Some schools accept LORs through AMCAS. Yet, different schools have different requirements. How does AMCAS know which letters to send to which schools? Just curious.

You list the letters in AMCAS and designate which letters you want sent to which school.

Lets say you send in letters A, B, C, D, and E.

You can send A, C, and E to School 1.
You can send A, C, and D to School 2.
You can send B to School 3.

You designate what you want sent and where. Just make sure that the letters are going to make it to AMCAS before you assign them to schools because you can't "unassign" letters, I believe. I know you definitely can't remove them. I had an advisor that never sent in a letter and I still get a letter from AMCAS stating they have not received the letter. Luckily, I didn't assign it to any schools.

Thanks Bacchus. Do you know if we need to tell our professors to include our AAMC ID# in the letter? I am using Interfolio, by the way. Or does Interfolio include it when they send it in to AMCAS?

Interfolio includes it. Interfolio was a live saver!

Has anything changed for this year with this system, particularly the transfer of Interfolio letters to AMCAS? It would be helpful to hear again from the officials at AMCAS and Interfolio who posted on these threads last year...

Anybody have a link to the latest info on this?

does amcas need any letters we indicate we'll send before verifying our app or can that be in around the time we're sending back secondaries?

AMCAS can be verified without having all your letters in, right?

yes, amcas can be verified without all your letters in. when you do send your letters to amcas, assigning these letters to specific schools and resubmitting your amcas application will not delay processing.
