How does AMCAS verify Extracuriculars

How does Amcas or does Amcas even verify EC's. I'm not saying I would ever lie, but how do they confirm my intermural activities, or tutoring students? For some of my work/activities I would have to list friends as my contact...AMCAS really takes that seriously? or is that for individual schools to find out?

And if it is up to the individual schools to find out than, how do they contact my student to find out if I actually tutored them???

AMCAS definitely won't. So many applicants and 10-15 activities per applicant would take years to verify. Some schools may check up on them, especially if it is a unique activity or a very high honor. The chances of them checking are slim, but it can happen. So be good and just tell the truth and everybody wins 🙂

I agree it's never good to lie, especially not when trying to achieve something you have always wanted to do.
I just wanted to make sure I didn't need everyone of my contacts to be some esteemed member of academia. For things like club involvement I guess it will just be fine to have my buddies name who I worked with for example.

They don't verify, but in your interview they will go through and ask you questions about them, and if you have lied than obviously your answer will be vague and they can tell your lying

Just to note, if you DO get caught in a lie somehow I'm pretty sure you get the ultimate banhammer and would likely never get accepted to a medical school. If a school files a complaint with AMCAS and you're investigated, every school you've applied to is notified.
