How does being a DO affect fellowship training & job security even with ACGME residency?

So I am an MS3 DO with an interest in DR, and I wanted to gather some info from experienced individuals on how life is after landing a solid ACGME DR residency.

I know the DO will always follow me, no matter what ACGME residency I attend. But does it affect me when I'm applying for fellowships? How about job market? I guess I recently started wondering about this after seeing some postings where groups are only hiring MDs and it never really crossed my mind before. I always just thought landing an ACGME residency would be the biggest obstacle.

Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I think i'm dumber for having read this. Are you serious?

Typically, when a posting says 'MD only' they just mean physician. I've never seen a job posting that says 'MD only' referring to no D.O's etc.

The effect won't be significant. You will be fine. But you have to understand that there will be always some bias against you. So if you look for a specific job, they may choose an MD over you with SIMILAR qualifications. However, in the bigger picture it is not going to change your job opportunities that much. If you are a bada$$, you will get what you deserve.

Relax buddy. Just trying to get some information. And to answer your question, there have been job postings that said "MD only" and ended up turning away DO grads. It obviously happens, I'm just trying to get a feel for how often.

Says who it happens? You have a lot of experience applying for radiology jobs as an MS3?

Lol. YOU relax buddy. This isn't even a concern of yours for the next 5 years minimum.

As far as DO's being turned away from 'MD only' jobs - I call BS on that , all day.

Wondering about job outlook in a specialty I'm interested in is completely reasonable.
