I just got approved for FAP in the last week but don't know how it works. When I add 1 more school, then come to payment window, it's still $38.00. But I don't know how to waive it...Any ideas? I didn't see any options about the fee waiver in here so don't know how to continue.

And one more question, if I use FAP for supplemental application, what is the maximum number of schools that I can use FAP for that? It didn't state specifically in the FAP benefits and I see most schools accept FAP for their secondaries

It is different for every school, but, in general, FAP doesn't mean your app is free for every school... for some schools, app submission is offered at a substantial discount (like $38.00).

It's not a discount yet. The original cost is $38 for each additional school. I thought they would let me add up to 15 schools without cost anything. But when I add randomly 1 school, it's still $38 or $144 for 3 schools. I didn't actually know how to use FAP for the fee waiver when submitting primary app...

check with aamc, Maybe its some glitch in the system. It shouldn't charge until after fifteen schools.

Most schools wont charge for secondary or will give you a discount. There is no limit on the number of secondaries that FAP applies to. Most schools will just waive fee the immediately after you get the secondary other schools will just ask you to email them the fap approval letter and then will go on their system and waive it.

Sounds like AAMC may not have put you into the system as having FAP, it shouldnt say a price if youre FAP and havent applied to more than 15 schools.

Secondary fee waiver is unlimited (although a small handful will not waive the fee no matter your FAP status)

last I checked, it was as simple as putting your hand in your pants....

This guy gets it.

Just cause I'm a pre-med doesn't mean I can't have a sense of humor. Humor = Life > stupid apps
Half these doctors are gonna be stale like those crackers in the corner.

Well that stinks. Calling the AAMC is what I'd do.

PS Sorry, thought you were talking about secondaries.

Okay, so I just called them and they said b/c i received the FAP after my primary application got verified, it means that I already submitted to at least 1 school before, so my FAP doesn't work for the primary app in this cycle anymore. So now I have to get my pocket to pay for all schools that i want to apply. That sucks! - 1 more lesson to learn if I reapply in the next year...

It might still work for your secondaries. Some schools have the secondary fee waived automatically right when you log into their portals, some others might have you email admissions to get a code or for them to do it manually. So I would still try and see if you can get those waived. It'll save you a nice sum.
