I'm unfamiliar with the US application system being a Canadian. I received a high-priority waitlist for interview at UWV, but I was wondering if this was because my scores are lower compared to other UWV applicants or because I was complete later on (Aug. 10). Would appreciate it if any ADCOMS could chime in.

Thanks!

It's probably neither and because you are not a WV resident
Being Canadian probably doesn't help either! 🙂

Either way, OP, you don't need an adcom for this. If your stats were too low, you wouldn't be interviewing for the WL, you'd be rejected. Same with 8/10 being too "late." Transmissions just began on 7/10. Nobody was complete, anywhere, until a few days after that, at the earliest. 8/10 is still early, everywhere in the US. 99.99% this is because you are non-US.

Thank you @Sterlinyx and @KnightDoc for those responses. I was also wondering if I do get an interview, will I be facing an uphill climb against people who got straight II's or would it be that once I got the interview, it would be my individual file score + interview that matters.

No -- I mean, I'm not an adcom or anything, but fromwhat you describe, you are interviewing for the WL, not for an A at this time. It sounds like they like you enough to want to meet you, but they are not going to extend an A to you unless or until spots open up after other people they have admitted turn them down much later in the process. It's not necessarily an uphill climb, because they do accept people off the WL every year, and you would be interviewing for the "priority" WL as opposed to the regular one, but still.

MSAR says they accept Canadians "case by case," the same as OOS, DACA and other foreign. TBH, anyone here who does not work with UWV admissions, including me, would just be making an educated guess. I've never actually heard of an II for the priority WL this early in the cycle. If I were you, I'd call them and ask. Good luck!!

You're fine. The high priority waitlist for an II just means they'll come pull you off of that waitlist and offer an interview later if they have space (they likely will because I believe WVU interviews IS first). At that point, you're just another person interviewing.

Just a point of clarification - what OP is referring to is WVU's waitlist FOR a II not a II for a waitlist

I see, thanks Sterlinyx! I did see a few people claim to be OOS and international and get straight II's. And yes, I did not get an II, I was waitlisted for the II.

Thank you for the kind words too KnightDoc! 🙂

I definitely misunderstood! Thanks for the clarification!!!

Yes, I definitely misunderstood. In this case, no need to call, and, when you do get the II, and it sounds like you will, you'll be interviewing for a spot just like anyone else.
