How does Law School GPA factor in?

Hi everyone,

Quick question that I can't find an answer to...

I attended law school and was wondering how my law school GPA factors into my application.

Thanks.

It is all lumped together under the graduate school GPA section and will be separate from your undergraduate GPA (which will be broken down into year 1, 2, 3, 4)

Good to know... do you happen to know how much weight it carrys? Law school is forced curve, so my GPA is pretty bad... like 3.0, but I have a 3.7 in UG with a 3.9 in science

It may or may not be helpful to write a quick letter to admissions pointing out that part of your gpa is law school. Maybe calculate your gpa without the law school grades for them in that letter.

FYI (to those unfamiliar with law school grades):I believe that some or most law schools have graduating classes with top gpas like 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

It won't be helpful to write a letter. AMCAS separates graduate from undergrad, nobody cares about your own calculations. The numbers they will focus on are undergrad GPA and undergrad level postbac. In terms of weight, graduate GPA doesn't carry much weight. Can hurt you if you did really poorly but not really help you if you did well.

Thanks Law2Doc. As always, you are very helpful 🙂
