how does one Img manage to get a surgery residency

HI!
I am an indian grad and m desp to get surgery in the states. i was thinking on the lines of uro/ortho but i know its hard to get it,m willin to do gen surg and then try for a change. What all do the univs look for when they give one a call[interveiw]?what do they want in an img so that he can join the program?

Generally speaking, you'd obviously need a good Step 1, and I think it'll be very hard - if not impossible - unless you've done rotations/observerships in the US, so you can get US Letters of Recommendation. Also, note that your need for a visa sponsorship can limit your options, so you definitely want to apply to programs with a history of accepting FMG's.
