If you complete 2 years of undergrad work in pre-pharm curriculum, and then get accepted into a pharmacy school, can you still complete your bachelors degree from your original undergrad? Or will you get a bachelor's degree in pre-pharmacy from the undergrad school once you are accepted into a pharmacy school?

Many pharmacy schools will consider students after they finish 2 years of college (assuming that you take all of the required courses) but I personally think your chances are much better if you can successfully finish your bachelor's degree. It just depends on what schools you are looking at. You will not get a bachelor's degree from your undergrad school from being accepted to pharmacy school however. If you're accepted after 2 years of college, then you will simply begin working on your pharmacy degree (which is a professional/doctorate level degree, not bachelor's).

There's no such thing as a degree in pre-pharmacy. If you're accepted after two years, you don't have to complete your BS/BA.

That being said, it is becoming increasingly rare for someone to be accepted after two years

That.

But if for some reason you feel like it, you could go back after your PharmD and get the rest of the requirements for whatever degree you've declared for your undergrad. My advisor almost threw someone out the window when they came in saying they want to major in Pre- Pharmacy. There will be no such degree. Ever.

I do know of two people who went back to finish their BS after pharmacy school just because they wanted to complete something they started.

This.

If you want acceptance after 2 years, apply to an advantage program that offers 2+ 3,4, or 5 years.

UF offers pre-pharmacy as an "exploratory" major. From what I hear, you are required to switch to a different major after two years.

That makes little if not no sense to me. Especially if you can easily incorporate your pre- pharmacy curriculum into majors like chemistry or bio. Although, now that I think about it, you don't really have to declare your major until your third year anyway, so you could proclaim yourself pre- astronaut major if you like.

Yeah at my school they made it explicitly clear that pre-anything was not a major and it was a 'track'. Idk but that is just what they called it. I guess it could also be called a concentration or whatever. I'm not sure how the whole thing worked if your major was undeclared for the first two years, but if you did have a declared major then you went to this 1 credit freshman seminar where they drilled you on all the classes you need to take, what the difference was between your major and pre-med, etc. I guess it was like a freshman experience class but for your degree.
