I have heard many things from this form. I just want to confirm.

If I apply in June with my current MCAT score and retake the MCAT in July or August can I update my MCAT later? Will I improve my chances if I do +3 points better on the MCAT or will I lose my advantage of applying early?

Thanks for your help!

Sure you can update later. The +3 points depends.... for example, if your MCAT score was a 22 and you improved to a 25...not likely an advantage. If it was a 28 to a 31, then yes.

If a school has dismissed your application due to the first score (29), will they relook at my application if I update my score??

Keep in mind that some schools will hold your application until the second score is in, which means your app wouldn't be looked at until late August/early September if you retake in July or August.

Once you are rejected, they will not reconsider your application. To prevent this from happening, you would need to list the final intended MCAT retake date on the application. If you list this date, the school will hold your application until the new MCAT score is reported. The retake date is one area of the AMCAS application that you can change after you certify and submit it.
