Quick question:
Do stereotactic and peds cases count as part of our 150/yr minimum of external beam cases? They are listed separately on my acgme experience summary report so I was just wondering...

dude stephew is totally going to close the impressions account if it continues to be misused like this

it is really only appropriate if it is a sensitive post and anonymity is an issue (like flaming other users for misuse of the impressions account) 🙂

 At least someone is getting the message... sort of.

Wow, I in no way meant to offend anyone by posting under that account. Apparently I am a bit naive in the ways of internet forums. I did not have an SDN account yet but opened one just now so that I could once again ask all of you knowledgeable folks to help me out.

So, once again: Do stereotactic and peds cases count towards our 150/year external beam cases? I know it seems like an obvious questions but they do seem to be listed separately on the ACGME log. Thanks in advance and I hope that I did not once again break some unspoken forum rule!

My understanding (from our PD) is that stereos do count toward the 150/year number, but peds cases do not. I haven't seen anything in the ACGME program requirements to differ with that.

Thanks for the input!

What about counting CNS SRS cases on pediatric patients? Can that count towards your 12 peds cases? Stephew may know the answer to this 🙂

Also -- what about an unsealed source case involving a pediatric patient?

I would think the peds cases would count, since they are external beam planning cases. My reading is that you need 150 external beam cases per 12 months of clinical rotations, for a minimum of 450 since you have a minimum of 36 months in the clinic (that should count definitive, palliative, peds, and stereotactic body). Of those cases, a total of 12 must be peds. I haven't clarified with the ACGME or anything, but that's what makes the most sense to me.
