Excuse me if the title doesn't make sense. I live in Michigan and i am a junior in high school. I want to go to Grand Valley State University for undergrad. I want to apply to Ferris State University, University of Michigan, and Wayne State University. Ferris and Wayne require about 60-66 credits for pre-pharmacy but University of Michigan requires 80 credits. How many credits would i take for undergrad? I'm confused. If i take all the credits needed for all 3 schools, but i get accepted to Ferris which requires 60 credits do i just leave undergrad and go there? I don't know what classes to take. Also do you have to finish your prerequisites before you apply to pharmacy school? How does one apply for pharmacy school?

I'm currently trying to talk to all pharmacy students, pre-pharmacy students, and pharmacists to get some idea of the education i will encounter later on. Can i private message some of you guys. It will be very much appreciated. If you have skype and want to share it with me that is even better. Maybe we can arrange a skype call if you aren't afraid to give it out.

Hi there, I can help you. I'm planning on actually applying to Wayne State, Ferris State, and University of Michigan for the next cycle coming up (Fall 2014) if that helps any.

Basically what you do is take basic classes. There are classes that are listed as the pre-reqs on each webpage. You don't have to be at one of those colleges in order to get accepted to the school. Just take what's on there. For freshmen, you'll most likely take something like this for the Fall -

General Biology I Lecture/Lab
Probably a Math course - College Algebra or Calculus
English 101 or Writing 101.

And maybe a Sociology or General Psychology course. Or even just pick up right along and take General Chemistry 1. The choice is yours, but be careful and don't overload too much until you get comfortable with your course load.

80 hours is just the required amount of hours required. It's close to a bachelors, that's 120 credit hours. (Give or take a few hours here and there as required by each school. Some might be like 124, 125 hours.)

You don't have to have all the classes actually completely either. From what everyone I've heard is you should have most of your pre-reqs done before applying, like 3-10 hours outstanding because it could make a huge difference in your PCAT score (read below about that.) And you would apply at PharmCAS. If you google it, it's an admissions page/website that sends your applications to schools. Not all schools do PharmCAS. I know that the three schools your looking for, do PharmCAS. It averages your GPA, has your extracurriculars, volunteer experiences, course history, personal statement.

You'll also need to take the PCAT. That should be prior to entrance into the school (obviously). It should be maybe your Junior year of college. That's what I've been told, if your actually going to get a bachelors. I would get a bachelors as I've heard it makes you somewhat more competitive.

PS. Since your just in High School, some colleges have automatic entrance into the school like you'll have a seat in that class if your a freshmen directly going into the college if you maintain a certain GPA think like 3.0 GPA. I think, don't hold it against me, but Ferris State has a program such as this.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me more about the ferris thing if you maintain a certain gpa etc... How long would my undergraduate years in college be? I'm hoping 2 years maybe? Can we exchange skype if you can? And can i private message you about some questions tomorrow?
