How early should you ask?

I will not be applying until 2008 but I just had an adv cell bio class in the Spring of 2007. Should I ask him now for a LOR or should I wait until next year (when he could have possibly forgotten me). I'm pretty sure that if I ask now my pre-health advisor will hold it for me but do you think it's a bit too early to ask?

You can also tell him that you won't be applying till next year and he can write the letter for you now, but if any changes arise (job, internship, etc) he will have it saved on the computer and you can update it next year.

ask for the LOR now. your professor might not remember you next year.
