How exactly does the Letter or Recommendation System work?

Hey everyone,

I am applying to schools this upcoming season and was wondering how tackling the Letter of Rec thing works. Some schools require you to send them via snail mail, others say they use interfolio, what exactly should I be doing/ where should I direct my letter writers to send stuff and when?

Every school accepts Interfolio. This might change in subsequent years with AACOMAS developing its own LOR system. However, for now, register an Interfolio account, read the instruction on how to request LOR through Interfolio, and use it to send LORs for the upcoming cycle.

Also, you should start requesting LORs as soon as possible, just in case anything goes awry.

1. Request letters ASAP if you are applying 2015-2016 cycle. Its important to find 3-5 people that will write you strong letters.
2. Tell letter writers that they will need to submit the letters to an online service and that you will let them know by May by email
3. By May you will know if AACOMAS has their own service or to use Interfolio.
4. Letter writes can submit letters in end of May to the link you provide.
