Hi guys,

i feel very fortunate to get 10 interviews so far. 5 programs that i would be ecstatic to match at, 3 that i would be content to match at, and 2 that i would be satisfied that I still matched.

Due to my schedule, I can only attend 10, maybe 12 if I really push for it. There are about 5 more “I would be ecstatic to match” programs I have not heard back from. If I do hear from these programs, should I start canceling interviews at less attractive programs (all personal and geographic) or should I make every effort to attend all of them?

Another related question is, for those of you that went through the process, how far did you fall on your rank list? is It common for people to match at their #8,9,10 etc.?

Lastly, those of you that matched at top 5, did you match at your home program? My residency doesnt have cardiac fellowship, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

Honestly... I interviewed at four places (applied late and had a rough CA1 AKT). Didn’t match but scrambled into a program that was one I applied to and was really interested in but didn’t get an invite.

Sounds horrendous right? Actually it worked out amazingly well. Made good connections there and learned a lot. Have a great gig now. It was rough to go through but man did it work out well. PM me if you wanna discuss more.
