so for programs, how far do most go to fill their spots? Say they have 10 spots, would most go down 20 positions on their rol? 30? 40? even 50? I guess the most competitive ones wouldnt have to go as far. But say for mid-tier programs, how far do most go down?

Since programs interview 10 applicants for every spot they have inorder to almost assure them of filling their program, I would think some programs go pretty far down their ROL

I think it is totally program dependent... Through the rumor mill I heard Utah did not even get to 20 with there rank list.

It is totally program dependent. I know of a program that routinely fills in the single digit or teens and others that generally go to over a hundred. Program size as well as reputation play a big role in how deep into the list they go.

I believe UTSW had on their website that they went down to 62 last year or the year before.

the pd at kentucky told me they usually go to the 30s maybe 40s. anyone know about ccf, vcu, mcg, houston?

I don't know about my programs but when I was at my interview for UCSD (my #1), I was told the farthest down on their list they have gone is #30 for 12 spots.

I think it was high 30's last year. I don't know where it's been previous to that.

There are programs that don't fill, so some programs are going down their entire lists.

Loma linda says it varies year to year; prog director gave an average (don't remember the number), but they have had times when they've gone far down the list (? 60's maybe).
