How far down the rank list do radiology applicants go?

Hi all,

I am wondering how far down the rank list do US medical graduates applying into radiology go? Are there any data on this? Anyone also have any clue how far couples go down the list? Thank you in advance.

FWIW, I have heard that most people rank in their top 3, but it would be helpful if people who have matched in years past could comment on this.

Totally dependent on the applicant and his/her choices. I know somebody who I thought was a top applicant rank at his #6, granted his list looked like UCSF, MGH, MIR....

Varies but many land their top 3. Some with mostly top tier programs on their fall slightly lower as the above poster said. Couples matching is a whole different beast - I think depends a lot on what your partner is matching into, but can't speak from experience.

no data, but it is a very unpredictable system. Most people (id guess ~80%) will get one of their top 3 choices. Almost everybody will get top 7. Some people end up at their #16. Some don't match at all.
