I thought this would be a fun post to start to see how far everyone is at and what kind of core classes you have left, when will you begin studying the MCAT, and when are you going to apply?

My premed requirements that I still need to take is Orgo 1 and Orgo 2, Physics 1 and Physics 2, and Biochemistry. All of my other requirements are completed!

I plan on studying the for the MCAT next Sumer and hope to take the MCAT at Spring 2015. Then I hope to apply to as many medical schools (D.O or M.D) as possible around August or September. Good luck with everyone this semester!

Bad idea. Get your app submitted as soon as possible. And you shouldn't (nor could you probably afford to) apply to every school; use your stats to figure out where you have a good shot, as well as some safety and reach schools.

And yeah, I gradumamated and finished the MCaTz already.

Why are you taking the mcat in spring but not applying until late summer early fall?

How can I send my app as soon as possible when I have not even taken my MCAT yet? I'm still all new to all of this. I still need to complete my Organic Chm and Physics before I can even take my MCAT. I plan on taking Orgo 1 next semester and Orgo 2 either in the Summer or August of 2014. My goal is to go to Med School August 2016. Do you think I should take a different route? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Ok, so you'll be done with your pre-reqs by Jan 2015. Then you would take your MCAT anytime from January through May, depending on how much study time you think you need.

You can submit your app without having your MCAT yet. For me, I took my MCAT May 30th, and submitted my TMDSAS and AMCAS at the beginning of June. So my app was submitted, but schools didn't my scores until July, but that was still relatively early.

If you take an earlier test, your entire app will be completed from the get-go.

Well thank you so much for this information, I appreciate it greatly. I have a few more questions for you if you don't mind. I currently have a 3.67 ish gpa and a 3.88 science gpa with around 200 job shadowing hours and volunteer hours as well. I'm in a few societies but can only do so much because I commute 2 hours back and forth from school. Do you have any other advice on getting into medical school? Any information is greatly appreciated and thank you for spending your time for me.

Freshmen.

Still need to take every single one of my pre-reqs 🙂

Long journey ahead of me

Hey, you have to start somewhere! It flys by so fast though. I felt like I just started school yesterday and I'm already a Junior. Good luck with all of the studying.

+1 haha

I can't believe I'm no longer a premed. I saw people interviewing at my school the other day and my jaw literally dropped. Med school feels like its going by fast too, but I guess I have 8 years ahead of me before graduation...
