hey all,
do you know how far we are in the admissions process. i just made a list of all the schools i applied to and which have rejected me. i have 6 rejections in total, and no word from 20 schools! i was complete early-mid november. i only have 2 interviews so far and this is really depressing me. should i start contacting those 20 schools regarding my status? or should i keep waiting? SIGH. is anybody in the same boat as me?

I think for many it's like the seventh inning stretch...a little lull before things pick up again. This month is a critical month as most of the "big name" schools stop sending out invites at the end of jan / feb. Schools with more movement, larger classes, etc will probably still be interviewing in march/april.

but since you were complete relatively "late," your file is probably going through reviews right now. You should contact schools I think. What's the worst that could happen? I contacted some schools when I was trying to figure out my app status, and some of them told me I had interviews.

Which "big name" schools u talkin about, Lux? I only know of one that stops sending out invites in jan...

here are some schools off the top of my head, I made these estimations from some threads I searched for from last year-- but feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

Jan: Harvard, Penn (according to the lady I spoke to on the phone--although their website says March....??). Actually now that I think about it I guess it's more Feb than Jan for most schools.

Feb: Cornell, Columbia (since they send out decisions end of Feb), Hopkins (i think?), maybe Yale?? (more like Feb/Mar)

Stanford and UCLA interview into March / April.

UChicago evaluates its pool of applicants on hold in Feb, so they may go till Feb/ March. Northwestern lady on phone told me mid Jan to end of Jan (caveat: I've been complete since early Aug, so they probably interview into Feb for Aug MCATers/ late completes)

Don't know about Duke or UCSF since I didn't apply and was rejected, respectively.

I figure I have been rejected from the big H and Penn, since I've been complete for so long. I know of some people who were complete in the summer last year and got a Hopkins invite in Jan. Yale I was just complete in December so the lady told me IF I got an interview I'd hear end of Jan / Feb.

I'm sure people who were complete later have better prospects in these months, than people complete in summer... ya know?

Here's a good thread http://forums.studentdoctor.net/sho...915&perpage=20&highlight=january&pagenumber=1
from last year. Gives you an idea of when interviews where still being offered. i.e. the last day Emory interviewed was 2/26, but Mt Sinai and Pitt were still interviewing in March, etc

Lux nailed it better than I ever could. Except for a few notable exceptions (UC's) some schools are starting to get closer to the end.

great link Lux, thanks for posting it.
