Are the Kaplan Notes for Pharmacology a good source? How about the audio lectures that go along with it (voice on the audio sounds like some British guy). I'm thinking of using it as my main source for Pharm (supplemented with what's in First Aid).

Hey that's what I'm using too. I think they are pretty good that british guy is Trevor of Katzung and Trevor, the ones who wrote our pharm text book and also wrote the exam and board review book. His lectures are dry but good and to the point. He also wrote the pharm questions in the A&L book and I think those questions rock (hard and challenging). But again what do I know I haven't taken the exam yet.

I've heard from several people who did quite well on Step 1 that if you know the pharm section of First Aid COLD, then you will be very well prepared. I am just using first aid and listening to the British guy.

Trevor is boring to me. I listened to him for about 5 minutes and got tired of him. He doesn't go with the book either. I think pharm is one of those subjects that you need to memorize high yield associations (MOAs, SEs, etc.) and don't really need a book per se to drill out the biochemistry. Leave that for the chemists. First Aid seems pretty solid.

How is the pharm recall?

It's great! It has a Q & A format and goes over the stuff you need to know for the exam. I'd pick it up and flip through it. You may like it enough to buy it. It's hot at my school. I told a couple friends and they told a couple friends now it seems like my school is Pharm recall crazy!
