say i were to put down vp of a service fraternity on a application along with other extra curr. like volunteer, work etc. would it over look a sub par gpa?

Absolutely. You should apply to Harvard, Yale, Mayo and Vanderbilt.

It will DEFINITELY get you into Princeton.

/sarcasm

Yall are joking right? my gpa is kinda bad cgpa- 3.13 sgpa-2.9 but i am on a upward tread.

No bro, seriously. The letters "VP" will definitely outshine the number "3.0"

Nah, SRSLY, bro, SRSLY. I think you'd be a PRIME candidate for Princeton Med. I've always heard they pretty give mucho love to 3.0 students. They pretty much ONLY like .0 students so the closer you can get to a .0 -- whether that be 4.0, 3.0, 2.0, 1.0, or a straight up 0.0 -- the better you'll do. And VP's pretty much better than Pres. Everybody knows the real President of a club is just a figurehead. The VP does all the real work, man.

Just be ready, bro. I hear their interview questions are tricky. One kid with a 4.0/40/VP didn't get accepted because he didn't know the answer to the simple question "How much does 1 square foot of water weigh?" They pretty much told him to get out of the office right then an' there when he couldn't give 'em a straight, numerical answer immediately.

Good deal, so say I end up with 3.4cgpa and 3.3 sgpa 27-32MCat along with VP of a service fraternity, volunteering for a couple years at 4 hours a week and working part time. and no reasearch. I have a good shot at med school? im so glad things are working out i was beating my self up about my gpa.

im kind of new to pre-med i decided that medicine is the way to go for me now and I am trying my best to be competitive.

and to musictodoc. props that was a clever troll

Well okay.

Assuming you're not a troll. Which I kind of think you are.

No, you're screwed. 3.0 GPA is going to make it almost impossible to get into an MD program. Nobody will care about your extracurriculars when they're axing you the moment they see your grades.

Shoot thats no beuno. should i look into to other options such as D.O. Optometry or PA? Im a pretty altruistic guy and felt like being a doctor is the best fit for me after volunteering in the ER this summer. Any advise will be appreciated.

With a bit of a bump in the GPA (up to, say, 3.3-3.5), DO would give you a good shot. MD programs tend to require extremely high numbers (e.g., 3.6+ GPA and an 80th percentile or better MCAT to be particularly competitive and the average applicant -- who, mind you, does NOT get into medical school -- is around a 3.5 with a 60th percentile MCAT score). Good luck! (And thanks for the kudos. I had fun writing that, not gonna lie.)

Thanks guys appreciate it, now time to execute the plan!
